| Day 1: Trivandrum Arrival Arrival at Trivandrum Airport / Railway Station and proceed to Trivandrum. Sightseeing of Sripathmanabha Swami temple, Zoo, Museum etc..Overnight stay at Trivandrum. Day 2: Trivandrum - Kovalam After breakfast check out and proceed for Kovalam. Kovalam is an internationally renowned beach of Kerala, with three adjacent crescent beaches. Kovalam has been a favorite haunt of tourists, especially Europeans, since the 1930s. A massive rocky promontory on the beach has created a beautiful bay of calm waters ideal for sea bathing. The leisure options at this beach are plenty and diverse - sunbathing, swimming, herbal body toning massages, special cultural programme, Catamaran cruising etc. Overnight at Kovalam. Day 3: Kovalam Kanyakumari Morning proceed to Kanyakumari. Later proceed for the sightseeing of The Kanyakumari Temple, Sri Padaparai, Vivekananda Rock Memorial, Gandhi Memorial ect. Overnight stay in Kanyakumari. Day 4: Kanyakumari - Madurai Madurai is significant with its cultural and historical background, the city has tourist attractions in plenty, the most prominent among them being. The Meenakshi Temple. Reserve your evenings to witness the vibrant and colorful temple ceremonies. One of the most important places of Hindupilgrimage, the Meenakshi-Sundareswarar temple is located at the heart of the city and is the hub of the religious and cultural life of the city. Built by Kulasekara Pandya in the pre-Christian era, the temple was in ruins before it was rebuilt by Tirumalai Nayak. Spread over six hectares, the temple is an outstanding example of Vijayanagar temple architecture. The temple has four entrances to it and its gopurams (large gateways) and mandapams (multi-pillared halls) are covered from top to bottom in a profusion of multi-coloured images of gods, goddesses, animals and mythical figures. The southern gopuram, which is about 48.4-metre-high is the most spectacular of all gopurams, and has over 1,500 sculptures. We can even climb the gopuram to get a panoramic view of the city. Return to the hotel for the overnight stay. Day 05 Madurai - Thekkady (110 Kms/3hrs) After breakfast proceed to Periyar and check into the hotel. Periyar/Thekkady is considered a heaven for natural spices such as black pepper, cardamom, cinnamon and clove. The main attraction in Thekkady is boating on the lake and the Mulla Periyar dam. Boating will take approximate 1 hour and we can also get rare glimpses of wild animals. Thekkady has immense possibilities for Adventure Tourism. The Forest Department offers many programs including Periyar Tiger Trail, Nature walk, Bamboo Rafting, etc. There are private organizations as well as government agencies (e.g.KTDC), who promote adventure tourism in Thekkady. Plantation tourism also is promoted by these agencies, so that the tourists can see and learn the cultivation of various spices of Kerala. Overnight stay at the hotel. Day 06 Thekkady - Munnar (140 Kms/ 4hrs) After breakfast proceed to Munnar.Check into the hotel / resort. Afternoon sightseeing at one of the most popular hill stations in India which is situated at the confluence of three mountain streams - Mudrapuzha, Nallathanni and Kundala. Located at 1600 m above sea level, this was once the summer resort of the erstwhile British Government in South India. Sprawling tea plantations, picture book towns, winding lanes, trekking and holiday facilities make Munnar a unique experience. Check in the Hotel/ resort. Rest of the day free to enjoy in the Hotel. Over night at Munnar. Day 07 Munnar The whole day is free to spend in and around Munnar, like Mattupetty Dam, Eravikulam National Park, Tea Museum etc.Tea Museum - The Kannan Devan Hills Produce Company Houses Indias only tea Museum in a Century old tea estate. Memorabilia include burial urn from the second century BC, 1905 TEA Roller,1920s old British Train Engine, photographs, curios, century old relics etc. The tea tasting and watching processing, really worth watch.Blossom International Park- This park sprawls over 16acres , a garden with a profusion of flowers. Boat ride along Munnar Water ways are memorable forever. Mattupetty-At a height of 1700m Dam is a favorite hunt of Nature Lovers and boating inside it creates a transformation in your life as it is memorable and everlasting. Eravikulam National Park- One of the finest Wild Life Park in the world and it is the largest habitat for the Nilgiri Tahr , an endangered species . Overnight at Munnar. Day 08 Munnar Cochin Departure (80 Kms/2hrs) The blissful holiday in Kerala comes to an end today. Every moment of the trip was memorable but as all good things in life must come to an end it's time now to head for Cochin Airport / Railway Station and board the flight back home. | |||||||||
